Engagement Session | Cal Poly

This is Part two of Carlos and Crystal’s E-Session photos on the grounds of Cal Poly Pomona.  The plan was “why don’t we do them inside the Drama Theater the place where we met” Perfect!! Sounds great I said! We had private access for 15-30minutes to Building 25 with lights right on stage, yeah!! We even had full control of the background lights which we had them match to their wedding theme colors, it was private and it was just so unique to them.  We also created more photos throughout the campus which turned out really romantic.  Love these!! Enjoy!:)

Merry Christmas!!

A  part of me thinks it’s so unreal how quick Christmas comes every year and this year is no exception. Around our home  the kids thought this year’s highlight would be  the e-readers/tablets but as it turns out there’s a special four legged furry friend that barks being welcome to the family!! Pictures of him to come.

What a year it has been! This year has been packed with lots of different weddings & special events,  and we are very glad to have been the ones to capture so many of life’s unique little moments that make it memorable.  The thing that always seems to amaze photographers about being able to capture so many different things on camera is that no wedding or special event is exactly the same. People’s personalities come alive in photographs, and even their very thoughts seem to be reflected in the way that they look into the camera. We want to thank you for giving us the one of a kind experience of photographing you and we want to take the time to wish you a Merry Christmas 2011!!

Chimed & Jason | Old World Village Wedding Huntington Beach

Photos from Chimed and Jason’s Fall wedding at the Old World Village in Huntington Beach. What a treat, photographing a wedding within minutes from my home,  it’s practically in my backyard, and what a great place this is too. Cobble stone pavers meander throughout boutiques of arts and  crafts and all things related world. The day was fantastic typical Southern California weather, clear and sunny with gorgeous blue skies, give that to me  any day please, although the temperatures dipped a little bit, but it’s Fall right, what do we want, it’s supposed to be like this.  Chimed chose a teal/blue color for her theme decorations which I thought totally rocked, very elegant!!   Her parens flew in from Mongolia, yes Mongolia,  that’s a pretty long flight if you ask me, 15 hours right,  at least! As always, I  take extra care of parents, just a thing about it that makes me want to make sure they get these weddings pictures to rock their world too.  The wedding ceremony started at just about an hour before sunset,  this is a little secret not many couples know about, it enriches the colors throughout by like 1000 times,  well now you know.  The only drawback is well you use this light for the ceremony and we  can’t use it for the couple shots because you’re busy during the ceremony. I think a ceremony 1 to 2 hours before sunset would be the most desirable in theory of course because nothing is perfect right. So I captured them in these fantastic “lost in the moment” type shots that just looked so yummy for photos moments, love it!!  Congrats you guys, loved your wedding and I think you’re going to love your photos!!

Hey there,

I just found you on the DWF so I thought I’d swing by and take a look at your work. I really enjoyed your photos and I love your editing style and feel. I’m a wedding photographer as well (My company is called Mykkah Photography around Washington D.C. / central Virginia) and I can totally appreciate the efforts behind the photos… Keep up the great work!

Best regards,

Mellie & Dom | Golden Anniversary

A good photographer friend of mine (Danny Villanueva) called me to say that his parents would be celebrating their Golden Anniversary and if I was available to for this special occasion for them. I love  great opportunities and this was certainly one of them. I had never photographed a 50th anniversary before and this turned out to be a great one to be a part of. And so as you can imagine I thank my friend for calling me and trusting me with this big day in their lives.  You can see Danny in the picture below styling his dad’s golden bow tie.  he was busy throughout the day with his two young boys while being a part of the wedding party.  The wedding ceremony was held at the Church of Christ (Iglesia Ni Christo) in Long beach which turned out to be beautiful church with exceptional soft lighting, really liked the big choir at the altar.  The reception was held at the Marriott Long Beach Airport which has some excellent grounds for pictures. The staff was attentive and accommodating because I can see this as I’m interacting with them and as I see them interacting with the guests. I also received some exceptional help from them when at the end of the the night when all was was over I had left one of my flashes which I set up on a light stand with a radio trigger. This simple little light is basically a $700 light on a stick, wouldn’t think much of it, as  you can imagine I was pretty anxious when I called them asking if it was still there, but when I spoke to the Catering Manager he totally  put me at ease telling me they had already arranged for them to contact me and to look for me to come get it, I was so relieved and thankful for such wonderful gesture.  I can’t say enough about this, in my industry there’s always horrific stories of lost equipment due to something as simple as this, but thank the good Lord He had me covered for sure!!  I love the overall pictures that we captured in the day, I think the couple, the families, the friends and everyone are going to be delighted to see these special moments that myself and my team are delivering to them.   A very special thanks to my good friend Tracy Kumono for coming to 2nd for me and for helping me capture these beautiful photos . I included a photo of the paparazzi in action, that’s me in the center of the frame.   I’m a happy man!!
