An elegant September day, painted in smiles, grace, and timeless light

There are couples who radiate love so effortlessly that it becomes impossible not to smile behind the camera. Betty and Daniel are exactly that kind of couple, two beautiful souls who truly admire one another. The way Daniel looks at Betty says everything: he’s completely smitten, and rightly so. These two share a deep affection expressed in their subtle glances, gentle touches, and joyful laughter throughout the day. As a wedding photographer in Orange County, I’m lucky to witness connections like theirs, honest, natural, and full of warmth.

When I first got the call from Betty and Daniel, I immediately felt that spark of connection. They resonated with my photography style and my vision for capturing moments that feel timeless, emotional, and real. Knowing they trusted me to document their September wedding at the Turnip Rose in Costa Mesa was such a privilege.

The Promenade Event Center & Gardens by Turnip Rose has always been one of my favorite Southern California wedding venues, it’s truly an exceptional place for weddings and special events alike, including elegant fundraisers and galas. I’ve photographed several events here over the years, and every experience has been wonderful. The staff are consistently warm, attentive, and supportive, ensuring every detail runs smoothly.

One of the things I love most about this venue is the lush green lawn, which comfortably holds a large number of guests while still feeling intimate. The tall pines and surrounding trees add a touch of majesty and beauty to the space. After photographing four or five events here, I’ve noticed something special about the light, the sun tucks behind the venue a bit earlier than usual because of the tall trees. It creates a soft, diffused glow that’s absolutely perfect for photography, especially during the warm Southern California summer afternoons.

Throughout the day, Betty and Daniel’s joy was contagious. Every time they smiled at one another, I found myself smiling too. Their laughter, their energy, and their undeniable chemistry made it such a joy to document their story. Some of my favorite frames from their day ended up being in black & white photography, where the emotions take center stage, timeless, classic, and pure.
