Today I Marry My Best Friend
Deja vu, does this place look familiar? It’s my second wedding at the Laguna Hills Civic Center Courthouse in beautiful and sunny Orange County. Love this place! You may recall Alex & Kevin’s first wedding 2018 was done at this beautiful Courthouse location. I was excited then to photograph that wedding and I was super excited to have gotten the call from Kenia & Dennis as well. The day turned out simply gorgeous and as was the case with Alex & Kevin’s Wedding the ceremony time was about the same 1-2 hours before sunset which in my estimation if you’re the semi-perfectionist type, this is the time slot to aim for as you’ll get better pictures because this location is out in the open, 12noon here and you’ll get tons of shadows under the eyes and sharp unflattering light. But a time slot closer to sunset means the light is being filtered through the surface of the earth making these light photons in the airglow with that golden color and softness making things just perfect for beautiful photos. Kenia & Dennis were very enjoyable, soft-spoken and totally nice people. Kenia’s dress was beautiful and as they always say she looked stunning. The wedding courthouse officiant begun the 5 minute ceremony pointed in the wrong direction. I had to politely ask if we may switch things around so the couple would be backlit and so I would have the striking courthouse building in the background. I’m so glad I did because the opposite is basically a set up for iPhone photography where backlit stuff just shows the subjects too dark, but totally not the case for my Canon 5D Mark IV camera and my Canon 6D camera flashes. These photos were taken using available light only, no flash which helps retain the look and feel of the moment. As you can see from the photos below I think they are going to fully and beautifully remember the moments of this their special wedding day and I couldn’t be happier to have plated my part. Congratulations to you too, wishing you all the joy and happiness in the world!!
