Today I Marry My Best Friend

Déjà vu! You might recognize this location – the Laguna Hills Civic Center Courthouse in sunny Orange County. Yes, it’s my second wedding at this beautiful spot, and I couldn’t be happier to share!

This time, it was Kenia & Dennis’s special day, following Alex & Kevin’s beautiful courthouse ceremony in 2018. Both weddings had the perfect timing: 1-2 hours before sunset. For photography enthusiasts, this “magic hour” is unbeatable! Harsh midday shadows are gone, replaced by soft, golden light filtering through the atmosphere.

Kenia & Dennis radiated joy and warmth throughout the ceremony. Kenia looked stunning in her elegant dress, and the officiant even added a playful moment by accidentally facing the wrong direction initially. With a quick, polite suggestion, we turned things around for the perfect shot – the couple backlit with the striking courthouse building as a backdrop. I’m so glad I did because the opposite is basically a set up for iPhone photography where backlit stuff just shows the subjects too dark, but totally not the case for my Canon 5D Mark IV camera and my Canon 6D camera flashes. These photos were taken using available light only, no flash which helps retain the look and feel of the moment.  As you can see from the photos below I think they are going to fully and beautifully remember the moments of this their special wedding day and I couldn’t be happier to have plated my part.
